I want to thank you for subscribing, and now reading, my newsletter! I would be grateful if you would click on a link (any link will do). This tells Gmail and other programs that my emails are not spam. FYI - none of my links are affiliate links.

If you use any new AI tool and have an opinion about it (good or bad), please let me know by replying to this email.

1. Send Personalized Videos at Scale

A common marketing approach is to send someone a video that explains the service or product offered. Videos are often used to market to potential clients or to offer a new product/service to existing clients. One method of improving your conversion rate is to customize the video for the potential client. But how do you do that if you want to send an email with the video link to thousands of existing clients? It’s just not practical to re-record the video for every recipient.

Now you don’t have to because HeyGen will personalize the video for you. HeyGen.com offers an easy three-step process to personalize videos at scale. They say their service can be used in sales proposals, explainer videos, welcome videos, and product release videos.

In short, this service appears to customize the person’s name. While I think this will be effective, additional customization of the content in the video will be even more effective. Coming soon I suspect.

2. Your Desktop AI

Companies large and small are concerned about using ChatpGPT and other online AI services because they may expose their customer data to unknown risks. One obvious solution is to run the AI on your local computer or server for your business. And that’s where Jan.ai comes in. It’s an open-source AI that you download to run locally.

This particular AI is still being refined so expect bugs. Jan.ai and other AI apps that run locally will fix a pain point for businesses that want to integrate AI will have. I suspect the next iteration will be AIs that run locally but that are already customized for a particular niche (e.g., dentists) or task (e.g., sales).

3. Your AI Nutrition and Fitness Coach

The science is very clear. People who track their food intake are more likely to reach their fitness goals. Ditto for workouts.

My teen son is trying to gain weight. I’ve suggested that he track his food intake but he doesn’t want to be bothered with the hassle of manually inputting each meal and snack. A lot of people feel the same - although most people are trying to lose weight.

With Rex the hassles are a thing of the past. You send a photo of your meal to Rex via Whatsapp and it will text you back the macros of your meal (protein, calories, carbs, fat). You can ask it how you did for the day and it’ll respond with the daily intake. It will also suggest and track workouts.

The lesson here is that there are opportunities to be had by using AI to improve the interface of an otherwise popular and needed service. Fitness pal is very popular, but many people don’t want to deal with the hassles of typing in their food intake. (To their credit, Fitness Pal has made this about as easy as possible.) So this app will appeal to a subset of people who don’t want to type in their food. What other interfaces could be improved by using AI’s visual or audio input process?

4. New Revenue on Autopilot

The lifeblood of businesses is generating new revenue. Now there’s an app for that! Kalendar.ai can generate revenue, meetings, or waitlists.

In short, it selects the target audience from over 300 million contacts and generates personalized emails to send to each.

If this works well, it and other apps like it will be a game changer. Regardless of how well it works now, it will work better soon.
